National Plate: Chester Girls U15 vs Alderley Edge - Saturday 8th March 2008
Won 4-3 on penalty shoot out
The Chester U15 girls continued their good form in the National plate to overcome Alderley Edge on Sunday on penalty flicks and book there place in the last 8 of the competition. Chester got off to a slow start and had to defend several strong attacks, these were absorbed by the excellent defensive partnership of Pippi Gould and Jessica Faulkner. Chester found their rhythm and began to stretch the Alderley defence winning 3 penalty corners in quick succession. the game settled and there were excellent displays from both teams with Alderley going close but the chances were squashed by some great saves from Lucy Dodd who proved her invaluable saving 3 penalty flicks during a tense shoot out. Chester stretched Alderley with some excellent movement as Laura Jowett and Emily Guest provided the girls with pace and width. The second half saw Chester come out of the traps and press Alderley with some excellent interplay from Charlotte Nott and Kitty Green. Charlotte led the line with pace and strength winning several free hits outside the circle for Jowett to supply good balls into the D, unfortunately Chester could not capitalise on these chances. Alderley made changes and began pressuring the away side, almost paying off as a contentious goal was disallowed.
The game was action packed with both teams going close showing real invention and commitment. The full time whistle came and the game ended 0-0 and the game was decided on a penalty shoot out. Chester proved the stronger despite some excellent saves from the Alderley keeper Chester won 4-3 with a clinical finish from the outstanding MOM Charlotte Nott to win the match. Next round to be played on 6th April 2008.
National Plate Round 2: Chester Girls U15 vs Timperley - Saturday 16th February 2008
Won 3-0
Chester dominated this match from the start with Captain Kirsty Dalton converting a well earned penalty. Kirsty then dominated the defence and Lauren Calvert controlled the midfield to give the Chester Goalkeeper Annabel Church a very quiet game. Excellent use of the wide areas by Laura Jowett led to further goals by Lauren Calvert and Charlotte Knott. Coach Oakley said after the game that this was an excellent team performance.
National Cup: Chester Under 15 Boys vs Litchfield - Saturday 3rd November 07
Won 3-0
Chester U15 Boys played the first round of the National Cup against a strong team from national league club Litchfield. Chester started strongly with John Reeves and Warwick Ryan-Beswick dominating the right flank to create many scoring opportunities. After several near misses Alex Perratt opened the scoring and soon followed up with a clever reverse hit shot for his second goal. Chester failed to build upon their advantage until late in the second half when Christopher Ormandy ran from his own half to score with a fierce low shot into the corner of the goal. Litchfield rallied late in the second half but failed to convert their chances due to several fine saves by goalkeeper Harry Williams. This was an excellent performance by the boys under 15s team from the Goalkeeper to the attackers.
