Sam Quek Receives Talented Athlete Scholarship
Sam Quek, part of CHC's Ladies 1st team, is profiled on the Sports Aid web site as an athlete who is currently supported by their Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS). Here's what they say:
"Sam plays for Chester Hockey Club and represents North of England and England. She has been playing hockey since she was 10 and played at the 1999 youth games representing Wirral, after which she was sent to county trials. Since then, she progressed to North of England squad of 16 and was lucky enough to be chosen to attend an England trial. Later on in the year, she went on to represent England in Berlin and Millfield. This year, she won Gold in the 4-nations, beating Holland in a nail-biting penalty shoot out. Most recently Sam has been to Poland to play in the Europeans tournament. She has now moved to the TASS programme and will receive a Bursary Award worth almost £2,000. Sam’s ambitions are to train hard and improve in order to be selected for the 2012 Olympics."
