Race for Life is a 5K, female only, charity run which raises money for Cancer Research and is taking place at Chester Zoo on the 3rd and 4th June 2008 at 7.30pm.
The Ladies section of Chester Hockey Club have been approached by Race for Life as they are looking for a group of volunteers who would be willing to help and hand out the goodie bags at the end of the run.
It is a fantastic event to be part of – either running, spectating or volunteering – and having a presence as Chester Hockey Club at the event is great promotion for the club.
If you are interested in becoming a part of Team Chester Hockey Club, please contact Jess Egan, Publicity Officer, on jesskateegan@hotmail.com or 07989856505.
Equally, if you are already entered to run the race, do let Jess know as she is doing it too and would like to run with some friends!

Each year Chester Hockey Club makes a number of monetary awards to youth members who have achieved significant representative honours during the past year. The Hockey Club would like to thank Roger Thompson who has again generously sponsored this years awards which are intended as recognition of and a contribution towards the considerable costs that parents have to pay out to enable their children to achieve these playing honours.
In order to be considered for an award the youth player must be a fully paid member of the Hockey Club, be 18 or under on 31st May 2008 and have played representative hockey at regional or national level. The application for the award should be written essentially by the youth player concerned and should state name, address, age, representative hockey played (including training days and weekends etc) and the approximate costs incurred.
The applications should be sent to Geoff Venables at 25 Upton Lane, Chester, CH2 1EB or emailed to geoff.venables@lineone.net by Saturday 10th May 2008.
Regrettably there are finite funds available for the awards and all the applications may not be successful. The Management Committee will select the most deserving applications and their decision is final.
