May Festival
Since 1980, Chester Hockey Festival has evolved and taken on a life of its own and many lasting friendships have been made – long may that continue. In 2006, Chester Hockey Clubs festival celebrated its 25th Silver Anniversary, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed. This family orientated festival continues to attract teams of old, renewing friendships spanning 25 years and more.
Chester Hockey Festival 2008 will take place over the bank holiday weekend of 23rd to 26th May.
The social events over the weekend consist of a welcome BBQ and disco on the Friday, the opportunity to indulge in some karaoke during the Saturday, featuring some of those classic 80’s tunes to get everyone in the mood for the evening’s entertainments – the Festival Themed Disco. The grand finale is the fancy dress on the Sunday evening (the theme is still to be decided).
The new pavilion which has recently been built over looks the two astro-turf pitches and is used throughout the day for refreshments and entertainments. This new facility allows the majority of the day’s activities to be based by the pitches allowing much more spectator support for the games going on.
Members of Chester Hockey Club make a special effort to host their visiting teams, and as a lasting memory, everyone takes home a gift as a reminder until next year of what fun was had!
